I’ve gone on enough runs now that I know the benefit of a good trail mix. The beauty of making my own is creating the mix exactly how I like it. Don’t get me wrong - I love the bountiful peanuts and raisins found in in premade mixes, but usually there are too many, and they lack a good carb souce.
Find a few of my favorites below. I usually eyeball the measurements, so use the following as a guideline and definitely customize it.
“Race Day” mixes are easier to digest, mostly fruit and carbs, less protein and fat.
“Endurance” mixes have a good amount of carbs, but more ingredients and more protein and fat. I usually use endurance mixes for hikes and bike rides.
